    Troop Hike

    October 25 @ 9:30 am

    Location: Crescent Trails in Perinton

It will be at least a 5 mile hike, with a map and compass, which will qualify for those that need the second class requirement. There is also an "explain the rules of safe hiking" tenderfoot requirement that can be done. This hike would also qualify for the "invite a friend" first class requirement, although make sure whoever comes is in shape for a hike like this. If there is another requirement that you'd like to see done on this hike, please let Mr. Hartman know.

We will start around 9:30, and depending on our pace, we are thinking it will take at least 3 hours. We are requesting that each Scout bring a bag lunch and/or healthy snacks (apples, granola, trail mix, etc.) since a hike like this tends to burn up a lot of calories.

This is the first step of an initiative by the leaders to do more hiking as a troop. It's a chance for us to work on our hiking preparation, and build up for longer hikes in the future. In November, we are looking to setup a trip to Cooks Forest in Pennsylvania, which involves a long hike. There will be other hiking opportunities as well. We may also have Scouts work on the Hiking Merit Badge, which involve 10 and 20 mile hikes, if we can get some interest. Mr. Hartman would like to get an idea of how large a group there will be on the hike, so if you are interested, please let him know.

    The Identification Challenge

    2nd Class1st ClassPhotography
We have a challenge going out to all scouts working towards their Second Class and First Class requirements. When you complete this challenge you will also have completed one of the requirements for each rank. If you do even one of these you might have already completed some work on the photography merit badge if you are so interested. So are you ready?

Two scouts have completed this challenge to date, many more are still eligible to do this.

So feel free to contact Mr. Skrotzki, bring your worksheets with the questions answered, and we can sit and talk about how your planting have been going then I can get you signed off.

So that those working know I've already signed off one blue card for one of your fellow scouters.
