Council has set the our goal at $14,157
• We are one of the units that has signed up to sell popcorn at Eastview Mall on Sept 13th because we already have inventory. So if you are interested in getting in on this sale please contact Mr. Skrotzki ASAP.
• When you have filled up a sheet (25 orders) you then qualify for the "Fill It Up" patch (that's 25 $10 orders, FYI: most scouts average $14 an order).
• Sell just one item and you get to choose either the Trails End popcorn patch or pin (see picture above). When you qualify for any higher prize level and you still get to pick either the patch or pin along with a prize from that prize level.
• Seventy percent of the money raised from this sale goes back into scouting. You will receive 25% of your total sales placed in your individual Campership Account. The money in this account can be used towards registration, troop activities, summer camp(s), camping supplies, savings towards the 2010 100th Anniversary Jamboree, etc.
• If you sell $1500 or more in popcorn you qualify for an additional prize of a $50 gift card of your choice from Coleman, or Wal-Mart on top of the other prizes you earn. See the Trails End site for full details.
• If you sell $2500 or more in popcorn you qualify for a special Trails End Scholarship program where 6% of your total sales are placed into a managed scholarship program that can be used towards a nationally or state accredited college or university, vocational, or technical school. This is on top of all the other prizes and extra prize level for selling more then $1500. See the Trails End site for full details.
• This year we have again made arrangements to get the popcorn delivered upfront to us via the "show and deliver" program. We have everything already in stock except for the $50 chocolate Tin, the three way tin and the chocolate covered caramel tins because it has been to warm to ship the chocoloate. We will be receiving that shipment soon.
• You can still take orders like in the past, then go back at a later time to deliver the popcorn ordered (this could be later that day, the next day, next week, etc).
• You can request popcorn up front from us before you go out selling and then take it with you as you go door to door selling. You can either get a full set of every item or a subset of the popular items and still take orders for the top end items to be delivered in the following hours or days.
What this means to you is that you don't need to go out delivering popcorn the week of Thanksgiving (when a quarter of your customers will be out of town and unavailable), and you'll be done with popcorn before Halloween this year.
What this means to the troop is that we are done sooner also; we'll also be getting your campership funds from council into your campership account sooner.
For those of you who are very busy with Sports and don't think you have time, how about this. Team up with some of your fellow scouts, pick a date, time and location that will give you permission to sell on premises. Then you can go setup a table and sell it that way (P&C, Wal-mart, Red-Apple, The Station, Lowes, to name just a few). Yes you need to contact them ahead of time and get permission but most stores are very interested in helping scouts out in this way.
So are you ready to start selling? Click here to get a online copy of the popcorn brochure complete with pictures of the popcorn items and order forms that can be printed on your printer. Mr. Skrotzki has the forms for you but we'll can't hand them out until Tuesday Sept 9th and I'll also have them at the Sept 15th meeting.
Popcorn and forms can be picked up after 7 pm on Tuesday Sept 9th
All popcorn order sheets MUST be turned in to Mr. Skrotzki Oct 24th
If you have unsold popcorn it MUST be returned by Oct 25th
If you have any questions or need to schedule a time to get pick up popcorn please feel free to e-mail us via the contact us page (select Popcorn Kernels) or call us.
To get Mr. Skrotzki call 315-986-1791 evenings (during business hours 585-746-6087).
You can also ask for Carol Hollenbeck at 315-986-1791 to schedule a pickup time. If we do not answer please leave your name and phone number so we can get back to you as we are doing this for both the pack and troop this year.
